Build, integrate, and ship production-grade applications, agents, and workflows using Anthropic’s Claude platform.

This training prepares participants with the foundational skills assessed in the Claude Certified Developer – Foundations certification. Participants learn to build Claude-powered applications and agents, integrate APIs and SDKs, apply prompt and context engineering, design evaluations, implement custom tools and MCP servers, and apply security and model-selection practices.

  • Why get trained: Develop practical skills in Claude APIs, Agent SDKs, Claude Code, prompt engineering, evaluations, custom tools, MCP, and agentic workflows.
  • Why it matters: Build reliable, secure, and production-ready Claude-powered systems while making informed decisions about models, cost, performance, and architecture.
  • Who should attend: AI & Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers, Technical Leads, Developers building Claude-powered applications, AI Agent & Workflow Professionals, and Technical Professionals working with Claude APIs, SDKs, and MCPs.

Participants gain hands-on experience through practical exercises, real-world simulations, and expert guidance aligned with the certification objectives. HRD Corp Claimable.

Overview

The Claude Certified Developer – Foundations certification validates foundational skills required to build, integrate, and ship production-grade applications, agents, and workflows using Anthropic’s Claude platform.

The certification assesses how well candidates can translate technical requirements into working Claude-powered systems. This includes API integration, agent construction, prompt and context engineering, evaluation, security, model selection, custom tools, and MCP development.

This is an independent certification exam, not a mandatory program. Candidates can prepare through their own experience, study, or training resources, but no course is required to take the exam.

Skills Covered

  • Build agents and workflows using the Claude Agent SDK, agentic frameworks, and custom agent loops
  • Integrate Claude into applications using APIs, client SDKs, and third-party integrations
  • Work with streaming, error handling, multi-format input, and API capabilities
  • Operate Claude Code and configure Skills, CLAUDE.md, settings.json, and plugins
  • Apply prompt engineering and context engineering techniques
  • Design and run evaluations and analyze application failures
  • Select appropriate Claude models based on capability, cost, and latency
  • Manage tokens, caching, and batch processing
  • Apply security and safety practices to Claude-powered applications
  • Build custom tools, function schemas, and MCP servers
  • Choose appropriately between built-in tools, custom tools, Skills, and MCPs

Course Curriculum

Module 1: Agents and Workflows

Understand agent and workflow architecture, when to use each approach, and how to build Claude agents using the Claude Agent SDK, custom agent loops, subagents, memory, and common agent frameworks.

Module 2: Applications and Integration

Explore application requirements, system lifecycle, Claude API, software development basics, application design, configuration management, API integrations, streaming, caching, version control, plugins, and Claude configuration files such as CLAUDE.md and settings.json.

Module 3: Claude Code

Learn the core concepts and capabilities of Claude Code, including Skills, Commands, Agents, Agent Memory, session management, slash commands, different operating modes, repository setup, and configuration.

Module 4: Evaluation, Testing, and Debugging

Understand how to identify errors, choose recovery approaches, analyze traces, troubleshoot failures, and determine whether an issue comes from the application integration or Claude’s output.

Module 5: Model Selection and Optimization

Cover LLM fundamentals, tokens, context windows, sampling, thinking modes, prompting basics, technical foundations, Claude model options, cost and performance trade-offs, token management, and caching.

Module 6: Prompt and Context Engineering

Learn how to write effective prompts, manage context and memory, prevent context drift, use few-shot examples, control outputs, refine instructions, and validate structured responses.

Module 7: Security and Safety

Understand prompt injection, jailbreak protection, handling untrusted inputs, data privacy, PII protection, authentication, authorization, guardrails, secure deployment, Claude Hooks, and managing credentials and API keys.

Module 8: Tools and MCPs

Explore tool use and function calling, external system integration, tool design and error handling, MCP server development, MCP resources and prompts, and the differences between built-in tools, custom tools, Skills, and MCPs.

Training & Certification Guide

You receive the Claude Certified Developer – Foundations credential along with a digital badge through Credly, which you can share on platforms such as LinkedIn.

Yes, if your certification is still active. Anthropic currently provides a free, non-proctored renewal assessment through the Partner Academy. If the certification expires, you need to take the full exam again.

The exam is delivered through Pearson VUE, either online with proctoring or at a test center. For online testing, your computer and internet connection must meet Pearson VUE’s technical requirements.

Why train with Trainocate

Yes. Anthropic does not require candidates to complete a specific course before taking the certification exam.

You can retake the exam. The waiting period increases after each unsuccessful attempt: 14 days after the first, 30 days after the second, and 90 days after the third.

You can take the same certification exam up to four times within a rolling 12-month period. Each retake requires a new exam registration and fee.

No. The credential is valid for 12 months from the date you earn it. You can renew an active certification through a free, non-proctored assessment on Anthropic Partner Academy.

The certification program is run through the Anthropic Partner Academy, and the current program FAQ describes eligibility in relation to Claude Partner Network organizations. Candidates should check their organization’s eligibility before registering.

Yes. The credential belongs to you. Anthropic recommends adding a personal email address to your Credly profile so you can continue accessing your digital badge if your work email or organization changes.
