Aligning strategy with execution is critical to any organization’s success and a key aspect of Scaled Agile Framework®. With a Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) approach, you can collaborate across silos, empower teams, and organize around value to adapt to what customers want, faster.
The Lean Portfolio Management course helps executives, project management officers (PMOs) and other key stakeholders plan dynamically and be flexible enough to adjust initiatives and budgets as the market changes. The LPM course provides the guidance and tools attendees need to work effectively in remote environments with distributed teams. You’ll learn how to connect portfolio strategy and initiatives to the planning and execution of work, how to integrate feedback from participatory budgeting, and how to adapt to change while maintaining your funding vision and roadmap.

Overview
This LPM: SAFe Lean Portfolio Management is a two-day interactive course that includes an optional one-day “Getting Started with LPM” workshop. In this course, attendees will gain the practical tools and techniques necessary to implement the Lean Portfolio Management functions of Strategy and Investment Funding, Agile Portfolio Operations, and Lean Governance.
Participants in the course will have the opportunity to capture the current and future state of their portfolio with the Portfolio Canvas tool and identify important business initiatives for achieving the portfolio vision. Participants will be able to establish portfolio flow with the Portfolio Kanban and prioritize epics for maximum economic benefit. The course also provides insights on how to establish Value Stream Budgets and Lean Budget Guardrails and measure the Lean portfolio performance.

Target Audience
The SAFe® 5.1 Lean Portfolio Management Certification course is for anyone involved in software development using the Scrum Framework. It is particularly beneficial for those within an organization, accountable for maximizing Scrum.

Module 1: Scrum Theory And Principles
Understanding about empirical process control, scrum rules and values. Why does Scrum work? Which are the theoretical foundations and principles? How does Scrum differ from traditional software development and why is it better for product development?
Module 2: The Scrum Framework
How is Scrum theory implemented through time-boxes events, roles, rules, and artefacts? We will experience why Scrum framework is constructed as it is and how you as a Scrum Master can effectively use Scrum to control risks and create maximum value.
Module 3: Scrum Roles – Product Owner, Scrum Master And Development Team
Learn accountabilities, responsibilities and skills required for each of the role within the Scrum framework to develop product using empiricism.
Module 4: The Definition Of Done & Acceptance Criteria
What is the meaning of “DONE” in Scrum and why is it important? discussion about Technical Debts. Participants have to learn the meaning of DONE increment by defining definitions in the workshop.
Module 5: Product Delivery with Scrum Framework
Learning by doing is the key factor here. Participants work in a group like real scrum teams. They learn by practicing Scrum on a live project. Small Scrum team plays roles, create artifacts to understand transparency and use events for inspection and adaptation.
Modue 6: Working With People And Teams
Since Scrum is a process framework and to make processes work, the organization has to strive hard for resolving problems from the people and the team. There will be numerous group discussions around challenges that are faced by the majority of these organizations while adopting Scrum.
Module 7: Working With Organizational Challenges
Why is change hard and what can be done to make it real?
What are the organizational changes that are needed to see the benefits of Scrum?
Module 8: The Role Of Scrum Master
An empowered Scrum Master can bring in positive change but change becomes difficult when the change agent is not pragmatic.
Module 9: Essential Elements For Agile Way Of Working
Let’s understand the advantages and disadvantages of the agile way of working. We will also have a discussion around the various models for organizational agility and ways to adopt it. The focus will be on owning a roadmap for organizational agility vs renting processes.
Module 10: Tools to Manage Product Development using Scrum
Most often participants wanted to know what’s the best possible tools to manage development processes so we give overviews about Jira, Trello and Azure DevOps to help them understand how and when to use these tools.
